Investing

Estate Management

The Situation

Peter’s parents lived in the same house that he grew up in. When his mother passed away 15 years after his father, Peter and his wife didn’t want to let the family home telephone number go just because his parents had moved on from this life.

The Outcome

"I worked with my parents’ phone company to port their number over to NumberGarage™ so that I could forward incoming calls to my cell phone. Two months later I was called by an attorney representing a company my father had invested into many years ago. The money we received from the investment was sizable enough to payoff our mortgage. I still have the account with NumberGarage™ today."

— Peter V., St. Louis, MO.

Retirement

The Situation

Two years ago, Dan’s father moved across the country to a long-term care facility to be closer to his son. Before the move, his biggest concerned was that he would miss incoming calls from friends.

The Outcome

"A friend at work told us about how they were able to affordably ditch their landline service using NumberGarage. When we told Dad about NumberGarage, his concerns were gone. He even goes online to update where his calls are forwarded based on his daily adventures."

All Testimonials
  • I was relocating to a new city (same area code) but was unable to access my new home for about a month. I needed to receive incoming calls to my former home, and I wanted to be able to install my old number in my new place. NumberGarage was the perfect solution, as it allowed me to forward my prior home phone to my cell phone while I was waiting to move in, and once I did, I was able to send those calls to my new landline, all without losing my number.

  • I own a business in Michgan with a landline and a fax line, as well as a business in Florida with the same. Of course I don't want to miss any calls or faxes, and I don't want to change my phone numbers (and the business cards, letterhead, etc.). NumberGarage was able to send all phone calls to my cell phone, and all faxes to another fax line phone number. Seemingly complex problem, simple solution.

  • I almost lost my 212 New York phone number that I had had for more than 25 years. Here's the short story: About 5 years ago I signed up for a VoIP-service videophone that started out at about $20/month. I rarely used this phone and was primarily using it so I would not lose my phone number. Over the years, however, the prices inched up and the fees, and my bill -- began to resemble those of a traditional landline service. Very soon I was paying almost $40/month for a service I was using for less than 5 minutes a month! I badly wanted to cut my service, but I really wanted to keep my valuable phone number. I looked into several other solutions, but none was ideal. I thought to myself only there was a way to port this number and not have to have the phone service! That was three days ago. Yesterday, I read about NumberGarage in Peter Shankman's HARO email and felt as if I had wished this service into existence! Needless to say, I immediately signed up! I am happy to pay ten bucks a month to keep my number and have my calls forwarded to me. Now that's a deal!

  • I'm an electrician in central Florida. There are electricians in my area of Florida that have moved on. I am very aware of the electrical outfitters that go in and out of business around here, my home. When they go out of business, I reach out and immediately offer to buy their main phone number. In working with the name transfer first, I obtain their phone number(s). These are numbers that they have advertised around town and in the Yellow Pages -- and, using NumberGarage, I forward them to MY business office. It's a win-win: customers don't have the frustration of finding an out-of-business electricians and/or bad number, and I get new customers with minimal effort and expense!

  • My house burned to the ground, and when I called my insurance agent to file my homeowners insurance claim I was not worried about replacing all my possessions. The one item I was most concerned about were not even material. My concern was some important phone calls I was expecting from overseas to my landline phone number. My next door neighbor had been using NumberGarage to forward his old home phone number to his NEW home number for two years. He immediately suggested I signup to port my number, and it was my insurance agent who let me use his computer to signup for NumberGarage. I was able to port my home number right back to my home after it was rebuilt. We still have our number today.

  • When my wife and I renovated our home we knew we were going to be out of the house for at least ten (10) months. The one expense I was adamant I would not pay during the renovation was our home phone bill. I called our phone company and asked for what I wanted, and then I called more phone companies to ask for what I wanted. There was one consistent answer from all of the calls I made: the service I wanted did not exist. A friend of mine was a reseller of VoIP, and traditional landline phone services. I asked him what my solutions were based on what I wanted. He thought about it for a few days, and had a solution. We used common sense to create what I wanted, having calls to my home phone number forward directly to my wife's cell phone. I told my friend I would have some talented folks I was working with on another project build a website, and he would provide the wholesale telecom service. Then, I would manage the business going forward. NumberGarage™ was a hobby project for a long time, and then our customers kept referring people. I am very proud of the customer service we provide, and I have taken the time to listen to our customers. People want common sense, and want to be treated fairly. My passion and vision for NumberGarage™ is large, and my goal is to turn NumberGarage™ into a verb. When you hear a friend say, "What do I do with my phone number?" Your response will be, "NumberGarage™ it!" I bought my friend out of the business, and I will continue to grow the business keeping NumberGarage simple. Our customers seek us out to solve problems, save money, increase income, or just hang onto a number they love.

  • My mother passed away in her home 15 years after my father passed away. My parents lived in the same house I grew up in, and our home phone number was part of the area code conversion when area codes were introduced, and when switchboard operators were phased out. When my wife and I were preparing my parents house for sale, and we had an estate sale, etc. I did not want to let the family home telephone number go away just because my parents have moved on from this life. I worked with my parents phone company and had the ownership of the phone number placed into my name. With ownership of the phone number I signed up for NumberGarage™ and had calls sent to my cell phone. Two months later I was called by an attorney representing a company my father had invested into many years ago. The money we received from the investment maturity was sizable enough to payoff our home mortgage balance. I still have the account with NumberGarage™ today.

My mom would have never have called me had she had to call a long distance line, and she could never remember my Skype number. • My Dad moved into a long-term care facility in our city two years ago. We live on the East Coast and he moved from the West Coast. He was so concerned that he was going to miss his calls from friends, and people who knew him. It was as if he stayed home to capture calls. We found NumberGarage when a friend at work told us about their cutting the cord with ditching their landline service. When we told my Dad about NumberGarage his concerns were gone. He even goes online to update where his calls are forwarded based on his daily adventures.

  • Dear NumberGarage™ Team - you guys seriously rock. I suspected that [my phone company] had done something interesting behind the scenes (from the minute I had [my phone company] 'create' this service for me in 2006) I had a feeling one day I would attempt to port the number and something odd would happen. I am sincerely grateful for your efforts. Now, as a professional marketer THIS is a testimonial worth putting on your website. Not only are you providing a service, you solved a problem that the general public could not have been able to even grasp in laymen's terms. Again you have my sincere thanks!
